A vote in the Senedd passed this week introducing new regulations to prohibit the supply of single-use vapes in Wales.

The Environmental Protection (Single-Use Vapes) (Wales) Regulations 2024 prohibits the supply (including for free) of single-use vapes in Wales and aims to tackle the litter and plastic pollution that blight streets and the environment. The Regulations will come into force on 1 June 2025.

The Welsh Government has worked closely with the UK Government and other devolved governments on this matter, and all nations have begun the bans at the same time. This will enable the bans to be coordinated to improve compliance and help provide a consistent approach to enforcement across the UK.

🚨 Launch of Llanover Hall as a new collection point for waste bags alarm🚨

Cllr Susan Elsmore is pleased to announce that starting today (11/12/24), Llanover Hall will be added as a second location for residents to pick up green recycling, food, and hygiene bags.

This has been a particularly challenging issue for Canton residents as all supermarket collection points were stopped suddenly some months ago, leaving one remaining location, Canton Library. Residents also raised concerns about irregular and infrequent deliveries to the library.

Following an intervention by Cllr Elsmore, deliveries of waste bags to Canton Library increased, and they are now frequent and reliable. Starting today (11/12/24), Llanover Hall will included as a second location.

Thank you to the residents for raising your concerns and working with your councillors to find a positive outcome.
